This year, we have added some excitement to the Parent & Child Fun Run to ensure that you and your child can have a little more fun!

About Us

About The Metta Charity Run

The Metta Charity Run is an annual community event organised by the Metta Welfare Association (Metta) to raise funds for the disability care, medical care, special education and early intervention programmes that Metta provides in aid of some 1,000 beneficiaries from across various races and religions.

Into its 6th year running, the Metta Charity Run provides you with the opportunity to be amongst like-minded participants who get together each year to do their bit for a good cause and celebrate healthy living.

About The Metta Welfare Association

Registered in 1994, Metta has nine centres that offer the following services:

  • Disability care for individuals with intellectual and multiple disabilities.
  • Medical care in the form of rehabilitative care for the elderly recovering from stroke and other physical impairments and a home-based hospice care.
  • Early intervention programmes for preschoolers, with mild intellectual disability and/or autism and/ or developmental delays.
  • Special Education for children and youth with special needs.
  • Vocational training programmes for youths with special needs.
  • Metta Caf set up to provide vocational training to youths with mild intellectual disability and/or autism in baking, meal preparation, kitchen and customer service.

The following groups are entitled to a $5 discount per individual registration:

  1. Loyal Runners who have participated in any of the Metta Charity Run from 2011 to  2014.
  2. Full-time students below 23 years old.
  3. Corporate / Group above 20 runners.


*Participants for the 10km run must be 14 years of age and above as at 5 September 2015.

** For Parent & Child 1.5km Fun Run, the registration fee is for a team of 2 people. Only 1 parent (aged 21 years and above) is allowed to run with 1 child (aged 5 to 12 years old). The fun run consists of game stations along the route.

To ensure that everyone gets a chance to participate in the game stations, the flag off will start at 8.00AM in waves of 5 minutes. The last wave will set off by 8.20AM.

All participants under the age of 18 must produce the Indemnity Form endorsed by their parents/guardian during Race Pack Collection.

Full day: S$1.50 / Hour (& part thereof)

Vehicle owners may park their car along East Coast Park Service Road (opposite Big Splash) or at nearby car parks B2 & C1, which is at no charge. Please note that there are limited car park lots available.

Members of the public are welcome to join us at the fun-filled carnival from 8.00am to 10.30am at the Big Splash, East Coast Park.

Coupons will be sold at $50 per coupon book, available for purchase at the information counter.

If you are participating in the run, you may wish to purchase the coupon book online together with your registration. The coupon book will be available for collection together with your race pack.

Rules & Regulations

  1. Metta Charity Run 2015 is organised by Metta Welfare Association and is referred to collectively as The Organiser in accordance with the Metta Charity Run 2015 Rules & Regulations.
  2. Completion of the official Application Form, including online registration, confirms the Participants agreement to abide by the relevant rules and regulations.
  3. Whilst every reasonable precaution will be taken by the Organiser to ensure the Participants safety, Participants run at their own risk and the Organiser will not be responsible or held liable for any loss or damage, personal or otherwise, injury or death, howsoever arising during participation in the race. Participants are strongly encouraged to go for a medical examination and/or consult their medical practitioner prior to registration and before the actual race day.
  4. Due to safety reasons, pets, bicycles, in-line skates, prams, push carts, shoes with built-in or attached rollers and any other wheel-run objects are not allowed on the course other than official race and medical vehicles.
  5. All participants are responsible for their own safety during the event. All participants must also observe traffic regulations.
  6. The Organiser reserves the right to use any photographs (including those of Participants), motion pictures, recordings, or any other media records of the Metta Charity Run 2015, for any legitimate purpose, including commercial advertising and distribution to sponsors and partners.
  7. Participants must wear the assigned bib number on his/her chest. Participants who are not wearing a bib number will be taken off the course by road marshals.
  8. The Organiser reserves the right to limit and/or refuse entries without giving any reason.
  9. A Participant must retire from the race immediately, if required to do so by any member of the Organiser and/or Security Officer.
  10. The Organiser will not entertain nor be in any way responsible for any disputes arising from incomplete registration details.
  11. Once registration has been duly processed, there will be no fee refund for participants who do not eventually take part in the event for whatever reason.
  12. Participants below the age of 18 who are participating in the run are required to seek parental/guardian consent and complete the relevant indemnity declaration forms as deemed necessary by the Organiser upon registration. Failing which, the Organiser reserves the right to refuse entry to any participant.
  13. There are three (3) race categories:
    5km, 10km and Parent & Child 1.5km Fun Run. All races are non-competitive.
  14. Race category and race entry are strictly non-transferable.
  15. All Participants who successfully complete the race in their elected category will be awarded a Certificate of Participation which will be mailed to them within one (1) month after the race.
  16. All Participants shall collect their race packs that include the bib number and running jersey on the Race Pack Collection Day. If Participants are unable to collect their race pack in person, they may appoint a representative to collect on their behalf. Note that the representative is to produce their identity card/photo ID upon collection. No late collection will be entertained. Race packs which are not collected after the collection date will be deemed as property of the Organiser who reserves the right to dispose or re-distribute them accordingly.
  17. Participants, who have been issued number bibs of the wrong category, are required to bring it to the attention of the registration officials prior to the commencement of the race on the race day.
  18. Please note that no changes in running jersey sizes and race category will be entertained during the race pack collection.
  19. In the event of inclement weather, the Organisers reserve the right to delay the commencement of the race. Should the inclement weather persist after delay, the Organiser reserves the right to cancel the event without any refund of pre-paid registration fees.
