Burn some rubber on February 28 as we take to the road in a bid to Cycle Out Poverty!
Cycle Out Poverty 2015 is Habitat for Humanity Singapores (HFH Singapore) inaugural charity cycling event that aims to raise S$50,000 in support of the newly-minted Star-Builders programme. Join us for a leisure cycling trial along the East Coast Park Connectors.
The Star-Builders program seeks to enable youths from disadvantaged or marginalised backgrounds to take part in a Habitat experience. Many young people have the desire but lack the means to give back; at the same time, the volunteer experience has proven to be transformative for these youths.
Gearing for Change
No matter how much cycling expertise you have, you have the opportunity to empower others through this event by setting a personal challenge and starting your own fundraising campaign. 40KM, 25KM and Fun Ride categories are available, and attractive prizes are in store for Best Dressed and Top Fundaiser.
In addition to riding, participants are encouraged to start a fundraising campaign to contribute to the cause. The campaign can take the form of a personal challenge and can be as simple as riding in costume, setting a time/distance target, wearing your cycling gear to the office for a whole week prior or cycling while carrying a backpack filled with bricks on the day!
You can also stand to win more prizes when you hashtag #cycleoutpoverty on social media! After the ride, a carnival will be in full swing back at the Civil Service Club @ Changi with food, music, games and a fully functional bike workshop to give your bicycle some TLC.
Cyclists can register online from today at http://cycleoutpoverty.sg
