In this article, we show you five places where you can get a decent pair of running shoes without having to break the bank. We will also show you how to get there.

Nike Factory Store (West Coast Plaza)

Factory outlets are one of the best places you can go to get discounts on a regular basis. At Nike factory stores, you can get 20-60% discounts on your running shoes, depending on the make. For instance, the Nike Free 5.0 (an older version of the Free series) has previously been down 25% from S$179.00 for regular Nike retail outlets, to S$133.90 for Factory Stores.

Directions

West Coast Plaza is accessible by buses 30, 51, 143, 201, 288 (Alight at West Coast Market), or by shuttle bus, which leaves Clementi MRT station every 15 minutes.

The Nike Factory Store is located at #B1-33/44.

Queensway Shopping Centre

The word "discount" is usually synonymous with Queensway, which has largely been the go-to place for cheaper sporting goods, even if we live in the furthest corners of Singapore. It's hard to pin-point a specific sportswear shop; there are many of them scattered across the premises, with most shops offering approximately 20% discounts or more (depending on your haggling skills) on running shoes. You'll find just about every brand available, from Puma to Under Armour.

For example, one of the shops, I Run, once had a Christmas sale with a 30% discount for all Mizuno, Puma, Reebok, Nike, Adidas, Asics and Saucony footwear, and 20% off for all Under Armour and New Balance footwear. The discount saw running shoes like the Under Armour Speedform Gemini sold at a discounted price of S$176.00, from the usual S$219.00 at its main retail outlets.

Directions

Queensway Shopping Centre is a little out of the way, but you can get there by Bus 195 from Queenstown MRT station.

I Run is located at #01-04.

Changi City Point

Conveniently located next to Expo MRT station, Changi City Point is home to numerous factory outlet stores. With a wide range of running shoes sold on the cheap, you'll be spoilt for choice there. Stores like Royal Sporting House offer discounts of up to 70% on past season running shoes, while Asics Factory Outlet offers discounts of up to 55%, as seen by the Asics Nimbus 16, which was down from S$220.00 to a mere S$99.00.

  • New Balance is located at #01-09.
  • Adidas is located at #B1-16.
  • Royal Sporting House is located at #02-38/39.

IMM

Like Changi City Point, IMM is the factory outlet haven of the West with outlets like Royal Sporting House, World of Sports, New Balance and Adidas. Amongst all these, Adidas could, depending on the season, offer a 30% discount for every purchase of three items. For instance, the ever-renowned AdiZero Tempo 6 has been offered for S$112.00, a 30% discount from the original retail price of S$159.00.

Directions

IMM is fairly accessible; a mere 5-minute walk from Jurong East MRT station. You can also take the shuttle bus from JCube, or take buses 188 and 175, both of which stop just outside IMM.

Adidas Factory Outlet is located at #01-123.

Lazada.sg

We live in the 21st century now, where most of our shopping can also be done online, and it's no secret that the best deals can often be found there, in the endless deluge of information. Lazada is one such site which offers amazing discounts on running shoes, amongst all manner of items at its disposal. Brands like Puma see discounts of up to 60%. Case in point, the Puma Mobium Elite Glow was offered for S$74.99, down from the usual retail price of S$189.00.
